Top 5 Favorite Things This Week: Minecraft, Even More Zombies, and a New Card Game!

by Dan Gheesling

Dan-Gheesling-Walking-Dead-Minecraft-Castlecrashers-Story-War-FavoritesMy Top 5 Favorite things of the week in the past have included everything from video games, to food, and everything in between.

Everything posted in the series of Top 5 Favorite posts, is something that has been discovered (or revisited) that I feel is worth sharing with you!

#1 Minecraft Update

Dan-Gheesling-Minecraft-Horses-1.6.1The first game I ever started streaming was Minecraft back in December.

One of the things I always wished Minecraft had was horses.

Wish no more! A patch came out this week that implemented ridable horses and I’m excited to try it out.

I wonder if the Chateau will make a comeback?

#2 Walking Dead Graphic Novel

Dan-Gheesling-Walking-Dead-Graphic-NovelIt seems like we haven’t had a Top 5 Favorites without some mention of Zombies. This week is no different.

I’ve never been a big comic guy in the past, but after downloading the first book for my iPad, I was hooked.

Thanks to Anthony on Instagram for recommending buying the Walking Dead: Compendium One. The Compendium combines the first 48 issues into one massive book for a pretty good deal. The graphic novel is much different than the TV series, but it is still very enjoyable!

If you’re a fan of the Walking Dead on AMC, I’d highly recommend you getting the Walking Dead: Compendium One.

(If you do buy it, let me know in the comments below, but don’t post any spoilers!)

#3 – Story War

Dan-Gheesling-Story-War-GameDuring this 4th of July holiday week, we’re having a couple friend of ours stay with us for the week.

We ended up trying this card game that was sent to me by the guy who developed it.

Having never played Story War before, we had no idea what it would be like.

While playing it, we couldn’t stop laughing and arguing. The basic concept of the game is you have to convince a judge why your character is the better than the other players.

If you’re looking for a fun and creative game for a party I recommend checking out Story War!

#4 – Castle Crashers

Dan-Gheesling-Castle-CrashersCastle Crashes (PS3/PC/Xbox) has been out for a while. For whatever reason, I just never got around to playing it.

But this week with friends over, I was looking to download a co-op 4-player game that was fun and easy to play.

This game is a win on all levels. It’s a side scrolling action game that is simple to pick up and play, has good music, cool artwork, and frequent boss battles.

Much like Story Wars, it’s a fun game for a party to play, and requires some teamwork.

We’ve been having a blast playing it, and if you haven’t yet, this is my must play game of the week!

#5 – Time Off!

It’s hard for me to break away from “work” to take time off.

With this Holiday week and company staying over, it seemed like the right time to force myself to take time off. It’s been nice to disconnect for a little while, and although I knew taking time off would impact the blog this week (this post is a day late), it’s also helped to recharge my batteries!

Admittedly, I haven’t taken every day off this week (as I’ve been posting one new episode of Dan Gheesling Beats: BIOSHOCK Infinite once a day), it’s been a nice change up to take some time off and enjoy friends and family.

Best wishes for the rest of this Holiday weekend!

Did you guys discover any favorites this week? Let me know in the comments below!

PS – We still haven’t come up with a good name for the favorites. ;)

  • Parker

That castle crashers game is awesome! Did you ever played Gauntlet Legends with friends back in the PS2 days? That’s probably some of the most fun I’ve ever had gaming

So you don’t like ANY of our suggestions…
    What a picky, picky guy… :P hahaha :)

I’m glad you’re having fun with your time off. I’ve had a time off from my gym (about 2 months now hurt my ankle working out) and at first it was not that bad, I usually workout everyday… now, really getting miserable. lol
BUT.. I’m trying to see the different positive sides to it! :) I’m doing different things with that time and it’s been nice (I miss it like crazy) ;)
    So I can understand… a little bit. :)
But I’m so glad you’re having more fun with your time off from something you love, than me!!! lol

I’ll keep trying to think of a name for the favorites..
Thanks for taking the time to give us this post. :)
Is it weird when I read your posts, I hear your voice ? LOL

You deserve time to spend with your family and friends – especially on a long weekend!! I am glad you are enjoying it and having fun!! I will admit I missed your daily posts. However, watching email for a notice of a new post and and then finally receiving the notification was one of my Highlights of the week! The other was when you gave me a shoutout in Watch With Dan – fangirl moment :) !! Of course watching BB and BBAD is on the list, and then I got phonecall saying my “Treatment Plan” had been accepted by the insurance company —- so I can finally start my physio etc to recover from injuries from a car accident last November….I know such a long time its ridiculous – so that is why its on my list….

Ok now to put on my thinking cap and come up with more names (ahem) because my other submissions were not chosen :( lol

  • TeeTee
