New York Recap

by Dan Gheesling

This past week I had the pleasure of traveling to Poughkeepsie, NY to speak at Vassar College and to Staten Island, NY to speak at Wagner College. This was my first time in both cities and I had a lot of fun in both places.

Vassar College Presentation

Dan-Raph-Vassar

I was brought in to speak at Vassar College in great part thanks to the Student Ambassador Raph. He applied for my student ambassador program and was able to do what it took to assist in bringing me to campus. As a thank you to Raph I was able to take him and a friend out to dinner.

My goal when doing speaking events is to make sure the audience walks away learning something they can actually put into motion in their everyday lives.

As a speaker, it is just a matter of how creative you can get to make sure the audience always walks away with something.

You can check out the photos from Vassar here or in the slideshow below.

Wagner College Presentation

Dan-Tricia-Wagner

Wagner College brought me to campus as part of their first Leadership Conference, to help their students become better leaders, so the sole focus of the speech was centered around physical ACTIONS they could do that would help them become better leaders.

A big thank you to Tricia from Wagner for bringing me to campus and for wanting the students to get the  most out of their first Leadership Conference.

You can check out the photos from Wagner here or in the slide show below.

After each presentation, I’m always tuned into the audience on Twitter to see how they reacted to the message.

New York Meetup

DG-NYC-Meetup1

Since this was my first time giving presentations in New York, I had a Meetup. Finding a place to hold the Meetup in NYC was no easy task.

In the end we ended up having the meet up at an Indonesian cafe called Kopi Kopi in Greenwich Village that not only has great Indonesian coffee, but also Indonesian based menu.

Thank you to Owner Liz for the hospitality and to George the Kitchen Manager for his legendary must-have Kopi Burger.

You can check out the Meetup photos here or in the slideshow below.
